Watchin EPL matches has become a custom of many people all across d globe. Consisting of teams only based in England, it displays among the best players ever in the world. But why the heck are we, not even in the same continent, region, so concerned on whats happening up there?? Do we even know a single football player of our country.....I understand the Malaysian football standard is at a very amateur level but support a bit la....Malaysia boleh kan?? Instead we rush over to the nearest addidas stores to get latest, special edition jerseys, caps, wristbands, balls, boots of our favourite EPL club. Our bedroom walls are filled with posters of ronaldo, rooney, gerard, lampard, ballack, t.henry, torres, drogba and so on....
Im not saying im an anti-EPL, I myslef have been watchin matches since the mere age of nine and am a die hard Liverpool fan...Youll Never Walk Alone!! However, these thoughts of why the heck do I even care occured to me. Okay lets start with the benefits of watchin EPL. First of all, you get to learn the new stunts, tricks and techniques of kicking, dribbling, tackling, and even heading as in do not head the ball but head the players instead(zidane). Next it helps you strike up conversations with people. Example: Hey, Chelsea sux man!!!! Besides that, it helpls you earn some cah through gambling. Or loose em....My friend lost 300 bux just like that wen MU lost 2-1 to Arsenal....haha padan muka, thats wad happens when you support useless teams..hehe. Some people even bet handphones and cars. Also it allows you to stay up late, in my case la. Example, my trials were goin on and there was this really nice scary movie. Asked my dad whether i could watch, then he said No......asked whether i could watch that nights match....OF CUZ! Who do you think would score huh??? lols. And finally, you get that feeling of satisfaction. Being a fan, somehow you fall in love with the club and feel you are part of it......when they score goals, it feels like you scored full marks for a test. Thats all the benefits that I can think of so far. If there are any more, pls comment I can add em.
Moving on to the negative effects. Firstly, watchin EPL makes you put on weight. It has become a regular activity for many to visit the mamak stall with friends during the weekends. Foods such as roti canai, teh tarik, murtabak and so served with various types of curries such as pork curry(rk house) are ordered in large amounts. Roti canai takes weeks to digest and leads to overweight problems. At home, we are usually slouched on the sofa while feasting on chocolates, popcorn and bottles of coke and beer. Next, there is no future for Malaysian football. Young players who are very talented migrate to UK hoping they will be able to join some club and the ones left here are the hopeless ones. Quarrels too often occur from diehard fans....They get too emotional especially when theyre team losses. For example, there are always fights in pubs from drunk fans supporting different teams. In relation to that, sum ppl tend to injure themselves out of frustration. My cousin, pounded his fist so hard on the wall repeatedly that it started bleeding and required bleeding. Asshole right, that also when the result was a draw. Sorry, mind has gone blank.....cant think of anything else...lols. In conclusion, watchin epl has its pros and cons. Itz good for the younger generation who make up the future of footbal, but for all the uncles, mamas, pakcik.....to much addiction over this causes negative effects. There was even an article in the paper that a man died of a heart attack when the team he supported lost. lols. So will you all minimise the time spent watchin matches, money spent buying equipment of your favourite clubs and outings to mamak stalls?? Din think so, but it was worth a try anyway...
